Burning Man is a network of people inspired by the values reflected in the 10 Principles and united in the pursuit of a more creative and connected existence in the world. Throughout the year we work to build Black Rock City, home of the largest annual Burning Man gathering, and nurture the distinctive culture emerging from that experience. The hub of this global network is the 501(c)(3) non-profit Burning Man Project, headquartered in San Francisco, California.

Burning Man is not a festival. It is a global cultural movement, with local communities flourishing all over the world. In 2023, 86 official Burning Man Regional Events were produced by local communities on six continents. Our ephemeral city in the Black Rock Desert is an annual experiment in temporary community embodying Radical Self-expression, Radical Self-reliance, and the rest of the core 10 Principles of our culture. In Black Rock City you are responsible for your own survival, safety, and well-being. You are invited to collaborate, be inclusive, creative, connective, and to Leave No Trace.

This is a no-nonsense packing list that I think will let you easily figure out what you can subtract or add from  or to it. Remember: Everybody is going to have different requirements for Burning Man. This is a simple place to start.
